Alex,
I have long used this gem of a lens on my M8 and absolutely love it. In fact. it was the first one I bought for it and stays on my M8 90% of the time.. There are alot of shots on my website that I have done in various situations with it, many published. I've shot everything from portraits to vintage autos with it. I also use no correction or filters on it whatsoever. Just a protective clear filter. BUT...I do shoot primarily B&W. What I have found is that you don't need an external finder at all. You simply use the entire field of view through the finder glass. It is VERY close to what you will see in the final file. I also wear glasses (bifocals) and haven't had much of a problem with focus. That being said, the old rangefinder technique of pre-focus works very well for me. peterarthur dot com

Hello Steve,
I have found your website extremely helpful over the years - thank you for what you do.
I recently purchased the Zeiss 25mm you reviewed for my M8.2 - and I love the quality, but I am having a hard time getting a good ergonomic and flowing system using it - including accurate composing. I was happy to get such a great price for this focal length, but I find it crazy to be guessing about the framing - I compose my images very tightly - tell me how I can make this better if at all possible.

To make this 25mm Zeiss work on my M8.2 I have purchased the voitlander 28mm viewfinder. It is off of course on composing the image - I find that frustrating. Also, I feel now I need the Thumbs up Mod 4 to make the composing have more accurate center. To add on to my woes, I wear glasses so I have purchased the E-Clypse Mag - I have tried the .85 and the 1.25. I like the 1.25 for more accurate focusing, but don't like spending time going back and forth between viewfinders so I think I settled on the .85 to be able to see the 35mm frame better with my eye glasses.
Any suggestions how to build the M8.2 best for the 25mm Zeiss?
Thank you for your time.

Hi Steve,
Love your website. Bought myself a M8 because of your website and after falling in love with my X1 as well as that soft creamy Leica look!
Would love to see some sample side by side comparison shots between ZM and M lens and your personal take on these side by side shots!
Love your work!
Best,
SuperP

Steve,

Just rented the Zeiss ZM 35 and the Zeiss ZM 25 for the next 35 days (Holidays). Looking forward to trying them out and comparing results. I have had my M9 for 3 weeks now and loving my new-found rangefinder experience. I am a Nikon convert (except for sport photos of the kids). I wanted the camera already, but I have to say your website is the straw that broke the camel's back.
I will probably purchase one of the lenses. My only current lens is the Summicron 2/50. I don't see a way for you to get credit for my rentals, but I will buy the lens B&H to help you out. Love-love the site.

From one Steve to another, thank you so much for posting a "real" review that's useful for what I actually use this lens for - almost everything!

I just got this as an early Christmas gift and found the results to be breathtaking when combined with Ilford Delta 400 on my M7. It is such a great complement for landscape photography in the Arizona desert where I can focus selectively or hyper focally to get an entire exhibit!

It's a great complement to the Zeiss 50 f/2 and I really don't care about frame lines when I use the entire VF as my estimate.

As I am a predominantly a B&W film photographer (but also use a Leica X1 for color digital), I am looking forward to the creamy renditions I'll get with this lens and Ilford HP5.

Sharpness? This lens is letting me confidently shoot down to 1/4 sec and use the wonderful DOF this lens delivers.
