Fun With Zeiss ZM lenses on the Leica M9

Only had them a day now but having fun, taking notes and doing some side by sides with the Leica lenses. Here are a few shots…

Zeiss ZM C-Biogon 35 2.8 Lens at 2.8

bat2.8

Some bokeh from the Zeiss 50 Planar at F2 (focus on the cable)

Zeiss ZM 28 2.8 at 2.8 – Testing Bokeh and color…

These are just some early test shots, straight from camera but can give you an idea of the “look” these lenses produce. In my full review of each lens I will have quite a few samples and my thoughts on the lenses vs their Leica equivalents.

  1. Hey RJ, the image above of the leaves was with the Zeiss 28. The Zeiss 25 review is up on the site, the 28 is not. I will get to the sonnar soon 🙂 Thanks!

    • Hey Steve!
Even tho its a while back but do you preffer the Zeiss ZM 25mm or 28mm.
I have heard that the 25mm should be one of the finest lens.

      Thanks!

      • I am searching for an nice wide angle lens in adition to my 50mm lens set up (Voigtländer Nokton 50mm 1.5 and Zeiss Sonnar 50mm 1.5)

  2. Hi Steve,

Was it the 28 Biogon you tested or the 25? The picture above says the 28, but I could not find it in your site.

And yeah just bumping for sonnar 50 on the M9 plus the zeiss list of recommended lenses.

I know you are a very busy man, but yeah I am a patient man too…hehe…

Thanks and just so you know your are always doing a good job!

    The site is really fantastic.

  3. I should be able to get a sonnar in about 10-14 days, hopefully. It is one I am really looking forward to trying on the M9 as I loved it on the M8.

  4. Hi Steve,

do you know when you’re expecting to get the C Sonnar T* 50 ZM? it would be great if you’re able to get the version optimised for F1.5 to try out.

    Cheers

    John
