Fun Friday Links – 03/19/10

Another weekend is here and I am excited because it appears spring is on the way. The sun is shining and the weather is warming up! Anyway, I have some interesting links for you guys today. Get a load of the first one. Pretty amazing…

WOW WOW WOW! Check this out…a guy tested A HUGE AMOUNT of 50mm lenses on the M9. I think I counted 35 of them. You can see the results at clubsnap HERE.

Don’t forget to check out the buy/sell section here! I put it up last week and have already had some great items listed and sold. It’s free and easy and effective! Looks like there is a 50 cron, Leica M8, M8.2 and more goodies listed right now!

From Poland…another Leica S2 review

I always find the deals for you guys…B&H is offering a $700 INSTANT savings on a D700 kit which consists of the D700 body, the Nikon pro 24-70 and 70-200 VR II lenses. TWO amazing lenses from Nikon. When you go to the page you will see a price of $6900 but if you add it to your cart it shows up as $5843. Those looking to jump on the D700 this is a great way to do it if you want two killer lenses with it. The B&H page is here.

Speaking of B&H, they have some hot items back in stock. The Panasonic 20 1.7 lens for m4/3 is once again in stock today. Also, the black Olympus E-Pl1 is in stock which is the most sought after color for the new E-PL1.

Oh, how cute…Evil Dictator baby photos.

DOCUMERICA – a 1970s project by the Environmental Protection Agency

Pretty cool! An Arctic photographers says PHOOEY to digital and decides to shoot his 3 month North Pole expedition with a Leica MP.

Interesting…Eleven close up shots of the eyes of animals.

Just stumbled on to this youtube video made by a guy and his Olympus E-P1. Funny how normal everyday things, when set to music can be so nice. Very cool moment captured at 1:24, but you will probably only enjoy this if you are an animal lover 🙂

Thats about it for this week’s links. Have a great weekend and look for part two of Ashwin Rao’s Vietnam Leica article tomorrow!

  1. I checked out the Nikon gear. The Nikon D700 goes for $2399.95, plus the two lenses (70-200 $1949.95; 24-70 $1649.95) equals $5999.85, so really, BH Photo only gave $155 off. Still, that’s better than nothing. That’s the kit I want. I was deciding between the 17-35mm VS the 24-70mm. Anyone know which of these zoom lenses performs better? I’d like to hear from the Nikon peeps about this.

I love your Friday Links. Will look more when I get back home.

  2. Thank you very much for nice words and for refering about my YouTube video here .I visit your site frequently and i could never imagine this .Thanks again

  3. Can’t agree more on the 50’s tests. This was a project done by a couple of guys here in Singapore. A pity that some of the other lenses were out for servicing, zunow, etc. Stay tuned, as I heard that they would be doing a 35’s test in the near future!

  4. Thanks guys! Yea, imagine having that collection of 50’s. It would be too much and would be hard to decide which one to shot with. Sort of makes me happy I only have one 50! Still, it was a cool test huh?

  5. What an incredible collection of 50 mm lenses in the first link. Thanks for the link.
If I had to choose, even if I love the photos with the noctilux, I prefer the lux asph. Th bottle seems to jump out of the photo.
I’ve got the zeiss 50 mm planar which is not in the list (or I missed it, I’m going to check)…

  6. Nice links, Steve. I am just LOVING how your site works and has evolved. Truly wonderful, and useful in the most well though of ways!

  7. Steve,
It is fantastic that you put this Friday page together! It is always a blast! I looked at all those lens on the M9 and I think my favorite picture is the one of all the lens. Amazing! Keep it up!!!
