SOLD! A RARE Leica Mount lens. The 35 1.8 W-Nikkor LTM

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This has now been sold!

This is a lens that you NEVER see  go up for sale, and when you do they go quickly..so I guess I should not have said ‘Never” as they do come up from time to time. The last time I saw one for sale was from KEH.com at $1700..then just over $1500 when the price was lowered. I bought that lens, reviewed it HERE and HERE and then had offers from a few readers to buy it. So I sold it. (how many 35’s does one man need)? Many times I buy things just to write about them, and then I sell them.

It is a fantastic lens. A 35 1.8 that is about the size of a 35 Cron but with a classic look and feel. A 100% unique lens. Works fantastic on the Leica M or the MM. It will also rock out on the Sony A7 and A7r 🙂

The last one I sold for $1600 without case. This one has the original old school case with it, an M adapter already on it and a Leica rear cap. No front cap but one can be found to fit it easily. You can see it above on my Chrome M. A beauty and with the mix of chrome and black, it fits the camera perfectly.

This lens is clean as a whistle, just as clean as the last one but the focus is spot on with this one. My last one was a teeny bit off.

So with the case, spot on focus and being ultra clean…you would think I would ask $1900. Nope. $1600 takes it.

So if there is anyone out there looking for this lens, it is a beauty and maybe 1-2 come up a year for sale. Very rare, very well made, very small, and a LEGEND!

I can accept credit cards, wire transfer or check (check takes a few days to clear). Ready to ship and ready to mount on your M!

A couple of quick snaps in my yard to show how it renders on the M 240.

  1. I saw one W-Nikkor 35mm f1.8 (without the C). Although they are ALL coated with the Nikon Optics, Nikon decided to build the last of them without the C. They only built 1,000 of those. Can anyone tell me where to buy one without the C?

  2. The Nikon 35/1,8 is said is the original that the lens on the Konica Hexar af was made after. Do not if it is true. Does anybody know? Greatings Jens

  3. Sorry, but $40 for a T-shirt? Um… No. I am happy to pay the thousands needed for Leica gear, because of the quality and craftsmanship. This is a damn T-shirt. You would have a case if it were organic cotton and made in a non-sweatshop factory, but since they only mention that the printing is done in the USA (the shirt itself is imported?), I’m guessing that the profit margin is about 95% of the purchase price.

Ducati had the same thing in their factory museum: $40. I actually bought one. It disintegrated rather quickly – Much more quickly than my $10 non-sweatshop American Apparel t-shirt.

    • Indeed, first thing I did with my M9 was whack black tape over the logos so I’ll be jiggered if I’m going to advertise Leica by wearing a T-shirt.

Leica make superb photographic equipment, we all know that, but the moves into this “lifestyle” boutique thing crap they have been pushing over the past few years is frankly vomit inducing. The Herpes cameras are bad enough, never mind wearing a crass shirt. [/rant over]

YMMV of course and each to their own and all that. lol 🙂

  4. Also in case anyone is interested, the Lens T-shirt shows the schematic of the 1925 era Leica 50mm f/3.5 ELMAR lens designed by Max Berek

  5. I bought both styles of the Leica T-shirts at the Leica store in Los Angeles. At the store they cost $40 plus sales tax. So they are cheaper here thru Steve’s link. Also in the LA shop the largest size was “Large” (I guess it’s an LA thing! LOL!)
