Photographing the bride on my own wedding

by Milan Swolfs

On the 27th September this year my wife and I got married in Belgium. We both like vintage clothing and love all things from the 20s, 30s, 40s till 50s. My wife www.macheried.com is my muse and we often do (commercial) shoots together.

I couldn’t resist taking some pics of my wife during our wedding with my Leica M9P and Noctilux f0.95 ASPH.

Thanks to your excellent reviews Steve I bought now the Sony A7S together with the Voigtlander Close Up adapter and use it with my Noctilux too. It’s much easier to focus and I can use it at night.

More of our work you can see on my website www.milanswolfs.com

Keep up the good work.

Kind regards

Milan

  1. These are wonderful photos! However, I do not like the Noctilux at all. Too big, too expensive, too soft. But so what? The photos matter at the end of the day and I thank you for showing them to us!

  2. Lucky guy, those turquoise shoes she was wearing really shows her temperament. She is going to be your favorite subject in front of your lens until your first child is born.

  3. Congratulations on both your wedding and your fantastic photos! I wish, I wish, I wish I did what you did for my wedding. I was pretty let down with our photos and being a photographer, its kind of a bummer that I have better wedding photos of other people’s weddings then my own. Live and learn they say… congrats!

  4. Beautiful wife and images. Love the processing on both B&W and color, particularly the B&W. The color images on your wife’s website are gorgeous…creamy and dreamy. That Noctilux rendering fits well with your style.

Congratulations and many years of happiness together…

  5. A beautiful bride with no over the top fancy dress, jewels etc. Something the shallow DOF pics convey very well IMO. Lucky man don’t mess it up 🙂

  6. Great pictures here and on your and your wife’s web sites. I especially liked the nature portraits. Congratulations!
