M Trade-Up Program: Celebrating a Decade of Digital M Photography

FROM LEICA: “We’re celebrating a decade of digital Leica M photography with a trade-up program to a new Leica M camera! Trade up from any camera to a new M camera and Leica will send you a check for $750 in addition to the trade-in value offered by your Leica dealer. Offer expires September 30, 2016 and excludes the Leica M-D (Typ 262) and Leica M (Typ 262).
Now is the perfect time to tell your visual story and see the bigger picture through the iconic Leica M-System.”

So if you have been thinking about trading up to a Leica M now is your chance as Leica will chip in $750 towards a new M system camera (as long as it’s not the M-D or 262 it seems). So email those Leica dealers and see if they can take your trade : )

I recommend Ken Hansen at khpny19@aol.com or Tony at PopFlash.com

  1. Wishlist for new M:

    – Ability to move the focal point around the frame in Live View like the SL can
    – In body stabilization. Even if it only works in Live View or with an EVF attached this would still be useful
    – Leica Q and SL sensor or one that is even better… Hopefully with Q like colors which I have a slight preference for over the SL (it is a little bit different)
    – Dedicated ISO wheel
    – Shutter as silent as M242 with low or no vibration
    – Improved ergonomics over the M240
    – Brighter LCD with higher res
    – EVF option that matches the SL
    – Hybrid rangefinder (new innovations)
    – Custom frame lines for any focal length through settings

    • I love the last suggestion. It would allow for some M zooms. M zooms would be quite unique: all Elmars, but compact and high quality.

I have suggested a few things to Leica and I think some of them are pretty good. 😉 I gave them an idea on how they could improve their flash system. I despise flash, but hey, it’s a good point to score.

What would be cool is an M that can outperform or match more conventional cameras in at least one way (lenses and compactness aside). If it has to be flash, so be it.

  2. Great deal! This would for me be the time to buy an M-A (not digital, but it doesn’t seem to be excluded).
No sign yet of this deal though at any European dealer… I’ll keep an eye on the replies under this article
