Amazing Beard Oil and Butter that will Nourish Better than the Rest.

This year I wrote an article about my favorite beard oil on earth for 2026. This article came to be after I spent thousands of dollars trying nearly all brands of beard oil to find what I liked the best in scent, conditioning, feel in beard as well as hold and just overall “cool factor”.
After trying so many brands both big and small, big box and hand crafted small batch I picked my favorite for 2026 as someone other than Black Rebel Beard (the company I am writing about here) but not because they failed to deliver, rather, they won my best of for 2024 and 2025 and I found another I love in addition to Black Rebel for 2026, so I shared the love. Both are awesome but quite different. To be honest I like both the same and for some things I much prefer Black Rebel and for a couple other I prefer Kunn. I use both and both have scents in my daily rotations. Which one is for you? Well, read on!
YES, I still love Black Rebel Beard and there are many reasons why. Oil quality, Unique, amazing scents that last, tallow butter that softens like mad and much more. I have found none BETTER than my two top faves.
When it comes to your beard health, not every or any oil will keep it healthy. In fact, some brands will HARM your beard or even make it dry like straw. If you are like me and have a white beard it gets even harder to keep it soft.
When it gets so dry, this will want to make you shave it all off. That happened to me once with a big “beard brand” that was well known. Their products wrecked my beard and skin underneath due to the ingredients used. I then went on a hunt for the best beard products for my skin and beard. I found TWO that for me, sit far above the rest.
What if you can use a beard oil, beard butter and have a softer, fuller and more luxurious beard while smelling like a million bucks at the same time? Well, you can.

The range of products and scents at Black Rebel are very unique compared to most beard oil companies. In fact the beard oil blend uses Ostrich Oil as the main ingredient and let me tell you… it’s pretty freaking awesome for our beards and skin as well. The beard tallow butter is improved again and is so good at conditioning my beard, keeping it velvety soft and never ever feeling stiff, sticky or hard. The beard balm as well as cologne, tallow soap and mustache wax are all 100% top quality.

In life I always had problem skin, even into my 50’s, but for the last two years I have not had any issues besides a couple of times when I had a rash on my chin from what I think may have been overly strong fragrance oils used in some brands of beard oil, or an allergy of which I have many.
Even so, Black Rebel has some top shelf products for our skin and beard that work well and smell downright amazing. As for scents? There are none better than Black Rebel. Also, I do know that ostrich oil is said to have properties for improving skin, so it all adds up to me!
When you add in the Tallow butter it just is so much nicer than any beard products you can buy from a store and even online for that matter. For our skin and beard we want ingredients that help our goals, not hinder them. I have used beard products from over 20 companies now, small batch and a few larger and Black Rebel always lands in my top 2 for doing great things for my beard, keeping it soft and nice and also solving any and all beard dandruff issues, dry skin and dry beard.
Yes, I have tried almost all of them from the luxurious ones to the ones some take to the grave. Others I have tested were about living the beard life, living bearded. I mean I can go on and on but only 2-3 brands TRULY impressed me.
Today I only use the best I have found and this company right here is one of the best you can get for your beard. These top two brands has changed my beard for the better, and even allows me to grow it long as I like while staying soft and manageable.
This is the scent of the month for January 2026, GIZMO! Very nice, light and in no way overpowering as some scents of the past but this one is INTOXICATING and has become one of my faves from Black Rebel!!! Would love to see this added as a perm addition. Let’s face it. Big Box stores sell beard oil but those brands are sometimes the worst for your skin and beard. Even the premium brands you may see in big stores or even those fancy shops are not very good for your skin or beard. The scents are lackluster as well. Those brands, yea I have tried them all and was never impressed. My skin and beard felt loaded up with product as those can be thick, sticky and just make the beard feel unclean or cause skin issues underneath.
Some of these brands, often times, have chemicals in them and I much prefer a more natural beard product that is not only good for my beard but for my skin as well. When testing many brands there were even some well known craft brands that irritated my skin, had me breaking out and one of them gave me a rash all over my face and head just from their shampoo and beard wash. The crazy thing is they were crazy expensive as well, to the tune of $42 for oil, $45 for wash, etc. They were not very good, not compared to Black Rebel or others.
What doesn’t fit on the shelf on my wall goes here. Can you tell I am a beard oil addict? I also have many bottles of cologne as well as balm and butters. Old faves reside here like Dylan, Baja Cruiser, Rad Dad and others. This is an old pic from a couple of years ago, Today I have most of the mainline from Black Rebel and a few limiteds.
The oil and butter formula from Black Rebel keeps my beard perfectly soft and my skin soft and clear as well. I love this.
My Beard in 2025 while using only Black Rebel. Black Rebel and Kuhn are now my faves but they are so different from each other.
MY FAVE FOR 2026? I have two.
For 2026 I am using two brands as I have found a love for both but these two brands are so different. One is Black Rebel and the other is Kuhn.
Kuhn uses cold pressed oils with a carrier blend that features many oils. The scents from Kuhn smell organic and nice but are not super strong nor do they project out, rather YOU will get whiffs of it for 6 hours or so and they offer light and stronger scents. They are not as deep or complex as those from Black Rebel. I wrote an article on Kuhn HERE if you want to see what they offer up for your beard. They offer up a Kaolin Clay butter which offers conditioning and hold as well, and I love their butter for when my beard is longer but it is thicker vs Black Rebel, meaning you can feel it more in beard yet it keeps those fly aways in control. More like a light balm.
Even using Kuhn I of course still rotate in some Black Rebel as well and I have my faves from them such as Seasmoke, the new 2026 Lucky Bastard (best tobacco scent ever) and the smoky Maverick. Just incredible scents that are complex, rich and deep. They also will last all day and some of the black rebel scents will project a bit.

Also, Black Rebel offers up a unique beard butter like no one else and its main ingredient is Beef Tallow, which is known to be great for the skin. This butter doesn’t offer hold so it is more about making that beard soft and healthy while smelling nice. I do smell some of the tallow in the butter with some of the lighter scents but it fades over a few minutes and the scent remains.
Here are my thoughts on the new 2025-2026 Black Rebel Beard Oil lineup….
The SONORAMIC
Wow, what a scent! This is a combo of 1 Million Lucky and Sandalwood but what I can say is that this is one of the most complex and luxurious scents I have ever experienced in a beard oil. Just trust me on this one…it’s FIRE. My wife LOVES this one and it originated a while back at Black Rebel as “The Leprechaun” but it has been further improved. It is cologne like so not really a mild one but has a unique bright or sharp vibe. This one is a must and check out the reviews at the Black Rebel site! Check out this one HERE.
The MISFIT
This is a classic barbershop scent but holy wow, it’s on a next level vs any other I have tried. Usually these kind of scents can be too strong with the powder/talc scent but this one has some magic within it. This one is mixed with aqua di gio, barbershop and bayrum and it has replaced the legendary scent “CASH” in the lineup. One of my faves and come to think of it, I think I need to restock this one soon. Check out the Misfit HERE.
The Seasmoke
Oh yes. Pedro took one of my fave scents from 2024 “The Lost Boys” (dropped as a special drop) and mixed it with an old fave called “Rambler” which in reality smells a lot like “The Yeti” but different in some ways. When together along with whatever else Pedro (the owner of Black Rebel) did it makes for what may be the finest aqua type of scent crafted for our beard. Aqua with some slight smokiness indeed. This is an incredible fresh scent and one that had me receive compliment from a lady while out with my wife! She walked by and said “wow, you smell so good” and my wife looked at me and laughed, knowing it was my beard oil. While taking this photo I dropped my bottle and 80% of the oil spilled to the floor. The Warhorse
This one is a refinement and change up of the brands well known and loved “The Wild One” along with an OG scent from back in the day called “COMP GOLD”. I own Wild One and use it rarely as it is so so strong, almost too strong. I am happy to say that the Warhorse is a masterpiece and whatever was done here really smoothed this one out, tamed it…yet it has such an intoxicating manly type of scent and smells even better to me. than the Wild One. Lucky Bastard
This one is NEW for 2026 to the mainline and a nice lighter scent which I love love LOVE! (Get this one). This may be the finest tobacco scent I have ever experienced as it is rich, smooth and deep yet never overbearing. Love this one. The scent profile is Soft Tobacco · Dry Spice · Oakmoss. Middle: Creamy Sandalwood · Tobacco Leaf · Warm ResinBase: Sandalwood · Tonka · Amber. Very complex but smooth and so nice. I have it in oil, butter and cologne. See the Lucky Bastard HERE
The Maverick
So one of the scents from 2024 I loved was The Doc Holiday. It has a sweet smoky leather vibe but light on the leather. I loved the smoke of Holiday and Maverick is sort of an off shoot of this one to my nose, but yes, even better and much smoother. It’s more refined and not an exact natch to the old Doc but I like this one more and it’s a flat out bonafide winner. I will be wearing this one often, especially in the cooler months. Black Rebel says this is like a mix of Tom Ford cologne and their OG fave “Leatherface” with no mention of “Doc Holiday”. Even so, it reminds me of Doc, but much better. This one may be more of an evolution of Leatherface, which I never had the chance to try but many love it. 100% highly recommended! The Wanderer
Another NEW addition for 2026 to the mainline this one is VERY nice indeed. I smell the OUD but it is not one of those overpowering types that will blow everyone out of the room, as the OUD is mild and this one is now my #1 fave of the mainline for 2026 as it is earthy, smooth and addictive. My wife loves this one and my mom also does. The profile looks like this: Oud · Green Herbs · SmokeMiddle: Resin · Coffee · IncenseBase: Cannabis · Amber. Yea, it sounds interesting because it IS! I do NOT smell the cannabis at all though wish I did a little as it is supposed to have an old hippie vibe. Love this one, will be in my rotation with Lucky Bastard, DB5 and Maverick.
The Hypnosis
Unique and fresh, never smelled anything like it other than last years special scent of the month for Halloween called “The Terrifier”. This one, the Hypnosis, is a mix of Terrifier and the brands OG scent “stargher king”. I smell that Terrifier scent for sure as the main base but it also has a refinement and pop that for me, bests the Terrifier by a little! That is impressive. A must have IMO. If you missed out on the Terrifier last year, this is basically it. This one is addictive and intoxicating but different. I loved this one for about 8 months and now prefer others but this one is potent! Check out the Hypnosis HERE.
The Commando
This one is UNSCENTED for those who cannot deal with scents for whatever reason. Here you can benefit from the top shelf ingredients in this beard oil while not projecting any kind of scent. This is basically a premium ingredient oil, butter or balm for your beard that will keep it soft, manageable and stylish that will allow you to be scent free or even wear your own cologne you love. The Tallow Butter 2026
The 2026 Tallow Butter from Black Rebel is firmer in feel when in the tub and still smooth as silk in beard. The scent is also much nicer now as the early tallow butter formula had even more tallow smell. Now it is very nice, firm and easy to scoop and apply. All premium ingredients without harsh chemicals that will dry your beard out. I also like to apply this to my skin. Arms, legs, chest, etc during the winter to combat the dry winter itch. It really helps.
When Black Rebel first offered up their new Tallow Butter it had a thin consistency and it took Pedro some time but he has now perfected the Tallow Butter. It’s firm yet soft and when in beard it instantly will soften the beard and leave the amazing scent linger. This one is perfect and has an amazing feel and consistency. It’s not for hold but for softening. They do offer BALM if you want hold and the balm is thicker and will also feel thicker in the beard. I like to keep it light so use butter.
The beard is looking good for an old white coarse hair beard. Black Rebel keeps it soft and healthy bringing optimal conditions for growth. This one is after a year of using BR. Overall this is a seven month beard for me.
Once again Black Rebel has me excited for 2026 as their new updated mainline range of scents is strong with some of the best smelling beard oil I have ever laid my nose upon, and I mean the best scents ever. I use their Tallow Soap as well, and it lasts me months, one bar. The wash and conditioner is not my fave so I use Kuhn Co Wash now to keep my beard soft from the get go. I would say that Black Rebel scents are more complex, richer and deeper than Kuhn (my other fave) but again, there are things with Kuhn that I enjoy as well, especially their Co Wash and the clay Butter that keeps the beard soft bit brings some hold as well.

Sure, you can buy Beard Oil that costs less but you will not get the quality ingredients, unique style and amazing scents that you get with Black Rebel.
