The final hours…the M9 contest deadline is hours away!

For those who did not enter yet be sure to keep an eye on the countdown timer which is at the upper right of every page 🙂 I can not accept ANY entry after the time runs out!

There is a discussion on the contest in the forums HERE. Be sure to check it out and chime in!

Ok guys and gals…it is 10:20 AM at stevehuffphoto.com headquarters (my little house in Phx, AZ) and I woke up this morning to 300+ e-mails, most of them entries for this contest! I am predicting that I will receive over 1000 entries in all by the end of the night. As of this writing there is just over 16 hours left to enter this contest and one of you WILL win Seal’s Leica M9! How exciting!! I know what I will be doing all day today 🙂

One thing is for sure…it is going to be CRAZY hard for me to pick a top 10 for this contest, so I may pick a top 15 instead. There are so many great entries so narrowing down to 10 would be almost impossible. Also, I have been asked if I could post them all (as in ALL of the entries) when the contest is over. Having over 1000 entries would mean I would have to post a page with 2000+ images and that would suck up loads and loads of bandwidth, but I will try to figure out a way to get it done.

Some entries have made me laugh, some have sparked my imagination, and there have been one or two that had me shed a tear. This contest has brought out the creativity in so many of you and your images have inspired me to want to get out and shoot even more! I have received entries from almost every part of the world. The power of photography is alive and well!

Once again I want to thank Seal for donating his M9 for this contest! If you have not yet entered head on over to the official contest page HERE for all of the details.

So how about a few more of the entries? All random selections once again. By  posting these here it does not mean they are in the top 15 or not in the top 15. Just some teaser entries for all of you who have been asking to see more…

Again, be sure to visit the forum for a discussion on the contest and one big final GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

  1. Oops Steve, forgot to enter :-). Never mind, I which the person who will win the beauty lots of fair light and great motifs (eh, judge Heidi could throw in a photosession with herself as well, to help out in the motif department). Personally I’m expanding into the realm of film since the GX680 arrived yesterday. What a machine! It would even give miss Heidi the creaps and hers is not to camera shy (great eye Heidi). It’s supposed to be the world largest mirror reflex and personally I have not checked that claim to fame but I can’t imagine anything bigger (or you would have to build a mirror reflex from a dressing table).

    More (and results) later.

    Greetings, Ed

P.S. Changing 65 to 135. A: remove 65 mm and store. B: remove wideangle bellows and store C: add tele bellows D: add 135 mm. E: Turn on camera and watch nervously blinking status light. F: Remove magazine cover and check for continuous status light. Are there any questions :-)?

  2. By the way? How do they verify I registered at picortwo? By crosschecking the registered email adress?

  3. Just submitted my entry a few hours ago! I know it’s going to be hard… but thanks Steve & Seal for the opportunity. Win or Lose i’m gonna own an m9 one of these days!

  4. wish I had time to enter this, would have been fun. Im sure I wouldn’t have won, but still good luck to all.

  5. I must have gone through 2 weeks of shooting the same subject, trying to get something I like that is cohesive.. this is very challenging, and is really helping build my own thought process.

I’ll have an entry in before the deadline.. not sure how far before 🙂 I also think my entry is probably going to be unommon/uncomfortable.. I only hope I can do the subject matter (which is close to me personally) some justice.

    Thanks Steve and Seal!

  6. I entered the contest, too….and followed the rules…I think there may be a problem with picortwo, also…. I did register and when I go to the site and log-in with my email, the login page acknowledges me and states: You are currently receiving pics from rankin….but I never receive any photos?
    oh well….I guess the world isn’t perfect….

    • Bob – Did you register for picortwo after 1/24/11? I ask because the last time Rankin posted a photo on picortwo was on 1/24/11. If you registered after that date then you would have not received any email photos from Rankin yet.

      • Thanks sas….
        That clears that up!
I thought I was supposed to be sent two pics every day?
Guess I was not paying attention, AGAIN! LOL.

  7. Wow!! Amazing how this contest “exploded” during the last 7 days! Steve, perhaps loading the approx. 2000 pictures up to flickr can help You with the bandwidth problem? Just a thought.

  8. I followed the steps at picortwo.com but never received the email to finalize the registration. I tried it again but my email is in the system, I am just not registered yet. So that might not work. 😉
Still exciting to see some entries. Can’t wait to see more.

  9. Thank you Steve, Seal, Leica and judges for all your efforts and contributions!!!!! I just can’t wait to see the finalists!! Thanks for sharing the above pictures too, this contest has inspired me in so many ways! You have created such a great community here – congrats and thank you for that!
