Hello Steve,

I’m from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I have follow your blog since 2011, the year I started to pick up photography as my hobby. I acquired my Leica M9 mainly because of your review 🙂

But, I have started to shoot a lot more with film camera recently. My main gear is Leica M6 and some film point and shoot camera (Minolta TC-1 and Fujifilm Natura S). I mainly do streets photography but occasionally will also do something else like event and pre-wedding photography for friends.

Hope your reader enjoy the photos I attached (The colors are shot with Leica M6, Kodak Portra 400; and the black and white is with Fujifilm NaturaS F1.9, Neopan 400).

  2. I am not happy with these snapshots. #1 suffers from the head shadow at the bottom. #2 the figure in white on the left is a distraction and #3 the stair case on the right is also a big distraction.

    • Surely, it is only a distraction when you look around the image? My eyes went straight to the lady before searching about the rest of the image. I think it is a good shot with a lot of impact, well done!

  3. Great photos, I love the third one in particular. Very funny! I still don’t have the guts to go back to film but I understand what is driving some enthusiasts to do so.

      Yeah! Just my luck in taking the 3rd one… i was aiming on the background (the peeping eyes) and all the sudden a lady running toward me (between me and that background) and using her hat to cover her face (i not sure why, maybe due to the hot sun or me?)…. pure luck 😉

      And shooting film is interesting! I never know what I got (most of the time) and when I got back my scanned, it’s like opening my X’
      mas presents, sometimes I got what I like but most of the time i don’t, and that (motivation?) makes me wanna keep going out and shoot more 🙂

  5. Great photographs.I say it because it’s harder achieve a well done composition in film if one cannot delete like digital or take two hundred without worry about number of shots. The third photo is my favourite, and the second has an interesting pattern almost zebra in the street, the woman and the architecture.
    They make me feel more comfortable with my decision to buy and shoot film instead buy software to emulate film, I shoot digital too because it has another feel and film because has also another feel.

  6. I like composition for #2 and #3, particularly for #2 with all the stripes patterns in the dress, shop door and zebra crossing. Great shots.
