Daily Inspiration #21 – “Watching the snow fall” by Felix Esser

Thought this was a sweet image, submitted by Mr. Felix Esser from germany. Here is the e-mail text he sent me describing this image:

“I am, since only recently, a frequent visitor to your site, and have been heavily inspired since . Last monday (January 4th) you posted a picture titled “Max and the moon” as the daily inspiration. Well, to me that picture was an inspiration, as I often observe my little son (aged 11 months) observe things. Today, he stood at the door leading to our balcony and watched the snow fall. This reminded be of the boy Max watching the moon in that aforementioned picture, so I decided to capture this moment and send the picture to you. Maybe you feel inspired by it, too .

I took this with my Olympus E-P1 + OM Zuiko 50/1.8 lens @ f/1.8, 1/160 sec. (which might have been a bit too slow, but after taking this shot my son decided to go on observing other things …), ISO 500 in P-mode. I developed it from RAW, did a bit of noise reduction and slightly adjusted the levels. The title is (descriptively) “Watching the snow fall”.”

Thanks Felix!

  1. Thanks for your kind comments!

@bluelight: When I became a dad, I suddenly understood all the fuss about pictures of one’s children 🙂

@yeongbing: Yes, it’s a great lens and a great addition to the E-P1, I enjoy using it very much.

  2. I have the OM 50mm 1.8 on the EP1 too. And the first time i use it, the first word out of my mouth is “Wow”.

@Felix, Great image, the baby had a glow around him…

  3. awesome photo. what a moment you captured. one of the most heartfelt photos I’ve seen in a while (perhaps I’m projecting my own experience a little as well).
