I spotted this image in my folder full of submissions and it popped out so I took a closer look. The e-mail stated this was shot with an original Canon 1D. Yep, the 4.1 mega pixel original MK1! It was submitted by Sebastian Skarp of Bjamum, Sweden. Sebastian shot this with a Canon 85 1.8 wide open at ISO 200. I love the color and out of focus background here.

Goes to show that just because your digital camera is old doesn’t mean it can’t create amazing images. I checked out Sebastian’s blog and WOW, talk about inspiration. I’m now a fan. Thanks Sebastian!

  1. The sensor resolution does not matter, that’s true! Nice blurred background.

  2. Thank you so much for your kind words Steve!

  3. a great image………. and a demonstration that photography is not about the technology but rather the conceptual idea behind the image.
