NEW Zeiss Mobile Phone High Quality Lenses – ExoLens

NEW Zeiss Mobile Phone High Quality Lenses

Looks like Zeiss is entering the mobile phone market! Well, LENSES made for phones that is. Zeiss is promising new high quality lenses that will be above any other phone lens made. IT’S A ZEISS and they look pretty cool in the photo below. Zeiss says these will be available 2nd quarter of 2016, so soon. I look forward to testing these out, and I will as soon as I can get a set to test.

You can see and learn  much more on this system HERE.

  1. I personally don’t see a problem with these add on lenses. They are still pretty tiny and lightweight to have in your backpack — I have plenty of empty room for a set of tiny lenses.

The problem with most of these lenses is the quality. The wide angle lenses are usually very poor in the corners. And the teleconverters usually have vignetting.

If you’d like some extra creative options when you only carry your iPhone with you, why not have these? Sometimes you see something and are inspired and you need some extra creative options for the one camera you always carry with you — and sometimes the iPhone is just convenient because you can instantly edit and share.

I think the teleconverter might be nice. You’ll have a 60mm equivalent FOV.

  2. I love cameras. I do. I love exotic lenses. I do. I admire Zeiss. But (and you knew this was coming) I just do not see the point of these large (compared to the iPhone) lenses banging around in my pocket or bag and hanging off my iPhone.

  3. Looks like these will give you a pretty big and poorly handling “camera” that still has a tiny little sensor.

I love my iPhone for what it is, a great always with me, fit into my pocket, imaging tool, but, its not like I can walk around with one of these Zeiss lenses mounted in my pocket, and if I’m going to have to otherwise carry that stuff, seems like might as well just carry a RX100, smaller m4/3 etc and get the benefits of a larger sensor.
